Paige's Story

Paige was born at 7:40 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.  Despite an unexpected C-Section, she was born very healthy weighing 8lbs, 9 ounces and 20 1/2 inches in length.  In addition to her parents Jason & Stacy, Paige was welcomed into the world that evening by her grandparents Jerry, Mollie & Sue; Godparents Cyndi, Jon & Renee'; Cousins Halle & Emma and her Great-Aunt Lori.  Everyone knew that evening that their lives would be forever changed as a result of such an incredible gift by God.

To say that Paige was cherished by her family would be an understatement. For both the Lemke and Nugent families, it had been quite some time since each family had welcomed a new baby.  Her older cousins, aunts and uncles all made sure that Paige knew that she was loved.  Paige brought an added excitement to every holiday and family event.

Paige was fortunate enough to experience quite a bit in her short life because her parents became "those parents" that included her almost everywhere they went!  Paige loved going to the zoo, out to dinner and just about any social activity!  Saturdays were "Mommy & Paige day" where she often enjoyed her weekly swimming lessons, playing in the garden and taking naps with Mommy.  Thursdays were "Daddy & Paige day" where Daddy would take her to just about any place that he could think of that was outside of the house- especially shopping at Menard's.  Mondays were shared with Grandpa Jerry & Grandma Mollie.  The day usually began with a potato pancake and lots of hugs and kisses.  The other weekdays Paige loved going to daycare at Jack & Jill were she was spoiled and cherished by her teachers , played with her friends and learned more than we could have ever hoped. Regardless of where we were, Paige loved every minute of life and often made it very clear that she never wanted to leave!

Paige's first love besides her family was Elmo!  She couldn't get enough of Elmo and all of his Sesame Street friends.  She knew all of their names and was lucky enough to experience two Sesame Street Lives!  Most recently Paige loved "The Wonder Pets"- Linny, Tuck & Ming-Ming too!  Paige loved juice, cheese and pickles- often negotiating extra servings.  She loved to sing her ABC's, "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and count to 11.   Every night was bath time with Mommy where we tried to time it just right for Daddy to help dry her off and put her in her jammies.  Most of all she loved to sleep in her spot between Mommy & Daddy any chance that she could get, showering us with many hugs and kisses.

Paige's life was cut too short after only 2 years, 1 month and 5 days.  When her Daddy tried to wake her up to get ready for school she was "unresponsive".  Although a wonderful doctor tried to revive her, it was clear that she had peacefully passed away during the night in her sleep.  Thanks to a highly talented medical examiner, we were able to be connected with a fabulous program called the SUDC that has provided us with some answers and tremendous support.

Paige's final resting place is at Morningside Memorial garden in Coon Rapids.  Her earthly resting place is in the Tranquility Garden where she will one day be joined by her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents
